Most Jiu-Jitsu practitioners are missing a huge puzzle piece… Let’s look at other martial arts, for example... What is LEG DEXTERITY & Why does it matter so much for your Jiu-Jitsu especially when playing guard? As I’m building the Unpassable Guard Blueprint movement program, I’ve been digging into the movement qualities that actually make guard work. Because from a movement perspective, guard isn’t just about technique... it’s about how well you can control your body, and especially your legs. In Module 2 of the program, my black belt coach and I demonstrate a technique based on Lasso Guard and De La Riva. When you break that technique down, it actually teaches a few important movement qualities: Independent leg control Extension and retraction timing Tension control And hip–leg coordination That's what we're gonna work on in MODULE 2. Surprise: The BJJ Guard Isn’t Techniques

Practicing Jiu-Jitsu has completely changed the way I understand the human body. Through all my trainings, I learned about: 🔴anatomy, 🔴alignment, 🔴joints, 🔴muscles, 🔴 injuries... . . . But Jiu-Jitsu really puts all of that into practice! BJJ is pretty intense, so the body always responds. And in that response, there is information. I mean, of course, choking people out is super fun😅... But for me, Jiu-Jitsu as movement and body manipulation, goes far beyond that. That’s one of the reasons I’m so fascinated by it. After yoga fixed my herniated disks and I could finally start jiu-jitsu… I genuinely thought: “Ok. That’s it. The work is done. My back is fixed forever.” Jiu-jitsu hooked me so bad I actually stopped yoga, strength training and everything else.. so that I can train MORE JIU-JITSU. And this is when I started to have injury... ...After injury... ...After injury. And I just couldn’t figure out WHY! . . . Later on, I understood that when you do something as intense as jiu-jitsu... or lifting heavy weights, your body is more inclined to go out of balance because it’s always under lots of stress and tension. So if we don’t try to balance out that ‘stress’… by releasing the muscles, working on the joints... regulating the nervous system... Imbalances.... Therefore, injuries will keep appearing. . . . So during my 200h Yoga Training in Bali, something clicked in my brain, and I deeply understood THE HUMAN BODY... beyond the human body. And also how it can be kept at a good performance and robust, from the inside out. My BJJ injuries 🫠...

I’ve been wanting to start jiu-jitsu for ages… but my spine had other plans. I want to share my story with you, because if something is going on in your body right now... I need you to know this: it doesn’t have to stay that way. About 7 years ago, I was lying in bed with numbness in both legs… terrified, thinking, “That’s it… my fitness life is already over.” My dad had to stop his sports career because of back issues, so when this happened to me in my 20s, I couldn’t believe it. I had just gotten back into training after quitting judo a few years before… and then I got hit with .. not one, but TWO herniated discs. And as if that wasn’t enough, during a really stressful time, I developed a pretty bad autoimmune disease too.. so basically my body was falling apart. I tried everything.. chiropractors, physio… all of it. It would help for a bit, then the pain would come right back. So the only thing I hadn’t really tried was yoga and meditation. That’s when I started working on my body and my nervous system that way… and I went deep. But after two years of consistent, focused work, I went from barely being able to move my body… to feeling stronger than ever. Yoga built me back up, and it fully healed my autoimmune disease (doctors said that autoimmune diseases cannot heal 😒..). That’s when I could finally start jiu-jitsu! Which, honestly ...brought a whole new set of challenges later 😅 But that’s what I’m going to talk to you about next time. This is one of the reasons I’m so passionate about helping grapplers and sharing these yoga for BJJ tips, mobility, recovery, etc ...
