You're not sure what to build yet. That's the hardest part. There are thousands of business ideas on the internet. Think about the last 10 years of your career. What do people come to you for? What do you know that most people in that market don't? If you spent a decade in healthcare and you're looking at a health tech idea - that's your edge. You already understand the customer, the language, the problems nobody talks about publicly. Match that to a market with demand and you're starting at mile 5 while everyone else is at mile 1. 4. Does this match where you want to go? Be honest about your situation. How many hours a week can you spend on your business? Do you want to run this solo or are you building a team? Do you want steady monthly income or are you swinging for something bigger? An idea can be great and still be wrong for you if it needs 40 hours a week and you've got 10. 5. Can you own a unique position? Not "better sameness." Find a unique angle or niche down twice. If 10 people do exactly what you'd do, keep looking. 6. Are people actively looking for this NOW? This is the big one.
