Most AEs lose deals in the middle of their demo.
Not at the end. Not during objections…
Right in the middle, while they're still talking and the buyer
has already mentally moved on.
It happens because most demos are product tours.
Top AEs run theirs as decision sessions.
The difference is what happens before you ever share your screen.
Buyers need to feel the cost of doing nothing before they can get
genuinely excited about a solution.
Skip that step and your demo becomes a feature showcase they'll
compare against three competitors.
Get it right and the buying urgency is already built by the time
you open the product.
This is one piece of what I'm covering on March 19.
We're also going deep on USP, because in this market, a weak
differentiator is just as damaging as a weak demo.

Most revenue leaders can feel it, but don’t have language for it.

That’s not hyperbole.
That’s already happening.
A few weeks ago, the CEO of a 1,200-person company cut his
enablement team from six to one.
Not because he “didn’t believe in enablement.”
Because no one could prove revenue impact.
Another CRO I met with recently took his enablement org from 17
people… down to 4.
That was his first major decision on the job.
Why?
“We’re chasing Rule of 40. And I had a 17-person team that
couldn’t justify their existence in revenue terms.”
Read that again.
His first major change management initiative as CRO was not:
* Rolling out a sales methodology
* Changing territories, comp plans, quotas
* Upgrading the sales process or messaging
It was taking a hacksaw to his enablement team.
Because in 2026, anything that smells like a cost center… gets
treated like a cost center.
Here’s the uncomfortable truth:
Most revenue enablement teams today are:
* Content factories
* Weak in credibility
* Unable to prove revenue impact
Which means they are structurally vulnerable.
And the C-suite knows it.
But here’s where it gets interesting.
AI is about to blow up the power structure of revenue teams.
Not by “making them more efficient.”
Not by “automating busy work.”
By doing something far more dangerous (and far more valuable):
Quantifying skill.
And tying it directly to revenue.
We are already seeing models that can say:
“This rep’s discovery skill gap cost $253k in closed-lost.”
“This team’s multi-threading weakness cost $5.3M last quarter.”
“This seller’s execution quality dropped 23% in 90 days—and
here’s the revenue impact.”
Once that exists… the game changes.
Because now the conversation becomes:
“Our skill profile is costing us millions.”
“Here’s the revenue upside if we fix it.”
“Here’s the risk if we don’t.”
That’s not enablement.
That’s revenue risk management.
And that is board-level language.
This is the divide that’s coming:
One group of revenue teams will:
* Accept revenue accountability
* Own skill as a growth lever
* And become strategically indispensable
The other group will:
* Hide behind content
* Deflect ownership
* And slowly get deleted
There is no middle ground.
